West Coast Logo

Arizona high class performance dealership West Coast Motorsports approached me when they required something a bit special for the new logo that they had in mind for their company branding.

They initially came up with some requests for the logo shape to be based on a front facing outline of a performance car with the company name emblazoned across the front grill and headlights of the car outline.

I produced a number of mockups during the research phase that used shapes from a number of performance vehicles but the one that stood out for them was one based on the new Audi R8.

Once the initial 'donor' car was selected I then attempted to break that down into its important characteristics so as to not make the logo look too busy with many elements detracting to the eye.


Followed by a few more rounds of revisions where we played with the textual arrangement and the layout of the sections of car used such as the headlights, grille and bumper.


 

Once the text and elements layout was decided another round of revisions followed where the colouring of the car and text where adapted and changed to suit the clients initial vision and to attempt to fit in with existing company branding.



Shown below is an example of the route that was taken to the final layout of the car elements that where included.

Detailed here is the final rendering of the logo created as a vector image so that it can be resized without any loss of quality.
